Hey parents! My name is Breanna and I am so glad you found my blog! I am the lucky mother to Jackson, my 9 month old little man, and Brooklyn my 2.5 year old little princess. I am also the wife to an amazing man that not only makes my life easier, most of the time, but also makes it a thousand times better and more fun than I ever thought possible.
I currently work part time, to contribute to our growing family, as well as to have a few hours of “me time” outside of the home. I am also currently finishing my teaching degree to teach high school English sometime in the future.
I love my children more than I ever imagined possible but I can undoubtedly admit that sometimes I do miss the adult conversations of my pre-children life. Not that I would ever change a thing, but going from talking about current events, politics and literature to discussing bedtime routines, potty training and vaccinations has definitely taken some getting used to. Hopefully you can relate and through this blog I can offer you a small sliver of your former self.
You see, this may be a blog about children and the lives we have with them, but it is also meant to give you important information and research that not only will educate you on new topics, but will also allow you to make more informed decisions about your children and the parent you are striving to become. Because, lets face it, just because they handed you that perfectly squishy newborn baby, does not mean you are a parent. It means you made a life and you now have to work to be the parent you have always hoped you would be, and that my fellow sleep deprived, wrapped around tiny fingers, frantic moms and dads is what raising children is all about.
Since I know you are busy and time is the most valuable commodity when your child is growing up faster than you can blink, I am here to provide you with current, relevant information, all in one place so you never have to scramble or “Google” to find an answer to a question you never thought you would have to concern your self with in the first place. Personally those questions would include some such as “when should my baby sleep in her own room,” or “will it delay my child’s speech if I teach them a second language,” or of course, “when can I start potty training and getting rid of these gross diapers?” Is any of this ringing a bell with you or am I all alone?
The first topic we are going to start getting acquainted with is children and American Sign Language. This will be a longer series of posts because it is such an in depth topic and there is more and more research being done everyday on the subject.
So, put your child down for a nap, take a shower all alone for once, and then consider this, would you teach your child sign language? Why or why not? We will discuss all the different views on this topic tomorrow so come back and catch up with us again!
